Carson was pumped that he got picked up by the Vols for Allstars. He was the only 5 year old on the team. If you know Carson, you know that he puts his ALL in every sport he plays. He didn't let his team down. We are so proud of Carson!!!! Hats off to Taylor too...we played 9 games in 12 days!!! :o) She did so well for not liking baseball. Let's just say the concession stand was our best friend. Congrats to the Knoxville Runner-Up 6 year olds (and Carson) All Stars. You all played well and made Knoxville proud!

Bruce Pearl Basketball Camp

Carson had a blast last week at Bruce Pearl's basketball camp. He was able to meet most of the Vols players and get some autographs throughout the week. He was on the Michigan State team from the Big 10. His team won the tournament in his age division. They were presented a trophy by Coach Pearl. Carson was thrilled. Carson loved playing on the floor of Thompson Boiling Arena. Carson said I needed to go ahead and sign him up again for next year. Carson also won the HUSTLER award on the first day!!!

Taylor and I went to another Mother/Daughter Banquet. We went with Reece, my Mom, and Rosie (my grandmother). It was at my parents church, Columbia Baptist Church, where he is the Pastor. We had a great time. The theme was "Wearing Different Hats". The speaker talked about how as moms we wear so many hats throughout our lives. It was excellent!

Carson just told me that when he grows up he wants to play basketball for UT. He loves going over to UT and pretending that he already belongs there. This is one of my favorite pics of him because I know his love for basketball and his love for UT. I need to enlarge this photo and put it up in his room. By the way, we watched the UT vs Ohio State basketball game for the 11th time today. He doesn't like watching the Michigan State game because we lost. Papa, Brannon, Carson and I headed down to Augusta, Georgia to watch the Wednesday Practice Round and Par 3 Tournament at The Masters. It was Carson's first professional golf tournament. He has been so excited for days. All he wanted to do was to see Tiger Woods!!! We went to find Tiger Woods first thing because we didn't know how long he would stay out there. We were within feet from him on the 7th tee. We had a blast. Carson LOVED getting autographs at the Par 3 tournament. We nestled in on the 1st Tee of the Par 3 course (right by the television cameras). Carson would wave really big when the cameras came toward him. By 5:00, he was totally exhausted from walking. He told Papa, "I can't do this anymore." I went on to the truck with him while Papa and Brannon stayed a few more minutes at the practice greens. By the time we headed to the main road, Carson was sound to sleep with his mouth and eyes wide open. I have never seen that kid totally wiped out like that before. We watched Tiger on television today, and Carson said that Tiger was his favorite golfer.

I can not believe my eyes! My kiddos can not be graduating from Pre-K and heading in to Kindergarten. Time sure does fly. It seems like yesterday Taylor and Carson were born. They are so independent now. Pre-K has been a true God-send for them. They both read well, write capital letters and lower case letters extremely well, add, subtract, etc. They are ready for Kindergarten even if Mommy isn't ready for them to go! :o)

I went to Cville to spend some quality time with her while my Dad was gone to Israel. I am planning on bringing her back to Kville. We plan on hitting the outlets this weekend (one of my favorite past times that we share).

Vols vs Cats

Carson is an avid basketball fan. He loves going to the UT games and loves watching UT and UK play ball all year long. He DVRs each of the games they play and watches them over and over and over again (I promise). He knows plays and scores and schedules like he listens to sport talk all day long. Well, he has been waiting for the UT and UK game here in Knoxville all season. He loves UT because my family loves UT (plus he goes to all the games), and he loves UK because Adam's family loves UK. When he woke up Saturday morning, I found him under his comforter upset because he didn't know what to wear for the big game. He wanted to cheer on both teams, so I helped him with his attire. Adam said he primilarily cheered for UT because we were up most of the game. Adam texted me at the beginning of the game and said Carson was getting some weared looks from UK fans because he was up singing "Rocky Top" in his UK jersey. Funny. After the game, he took the John Wall jersey off (I guess since Tennessee won). It is Monday, and he has already re- watched the game 3 times from beginning to end.

Taylor just wears whatever I am wearing. When I was dropping Carson off at the arena to meet Adam on Saturday, Taylor said "Is Tennessee playing today? Who are we verses?" She had her sights set on shopping obviously (which we did with Nana)...not the ballgame.

Pre-K Graduation Pictures

I snapped a few pictures of Taylor and Carson this morning right before they headed off to Pre-K. Today was the day for Graduation pictures with their caps and gowns (which were at school). Carson said he was "excellent" but other kids were laughing at everyone wearing the gowns (Sure...I believe ya). Carson also said that he did not like that itchy thing that hung in his face from his hat, and his hat was too small and didn't cover his head. It was definitely a new experience for them. They have been to a few highschool and college graduations in the last few years, but thought it was pretty "cool" that they were getting to graduate. I can't wait to see it!!! (May 22)

P.S. Brannon and crew spent the night, so Reece sneaked in a few pictures. :o)

Basketball League

Carson played his first basketball league this winter. He loved it. He was #22 and was the little point guard. Basketball has been his love since he was two years old. He has enjoyed watching it on television, playing in the living room, playing outside, and of course going to all of UT's home basketball games this year. This Jr. Pro league played full court on 8 ft goals and had 4 eight minute quarters. Let's just say...he was ready to rest after the games. Carson did really well and we were especially proud of his last three games of 15 pts, 18 pts, and another 15 pointer. We LOVED his coach this year. He really taught Carson a lot about the sport. Carson is enjoying the break now before baseball starts but still practices his basketball!!!

Taylor and Carson's 1st BOWL game

I remember growing up my parents would take us (my brother and I) to bowl games almost every year to watch Tennessee play. We have gone all around from Texas to Florida, to New Orleans to Atlanta to watch the Vols play. I was so excited to start this tradition with my own kids this year. It was in Atlanta which was a great quick trip for their first bowl game. We stayed at the Westin right beside the Georgia Dome on the 40th floor. Taylor and Carson were amazed to see all over downtown Atlanta from our room. We walked over to Fanfare before the game and then went on to the game. It was exciting for the kids eventhough we lost. Great family memories for my children.

Vacation and more vacation

These last two weeks have been filled with lots of family and friends in many different places:
1) We started the Christmas season off in Birmingham, AL at my cousin's college graduation at Samford University.
2) Next, we went to Opryland for a weekend in Nashville and enjoyed Adam's family while doing a little shopping and a lot of looking around the Hotel (which by the way is fabulous if you have never been).
3) We then went on to Campbellsville, KY where we are from to celebrate Christmas with each of our families.
4) Then, the kids and I took my grandmother to Panama City Beach (where she always spends her winters) while Adam went to Washington (the state) and Oregon for work.
5) Finally, we meet up with Adam in Atlanta to watch the Chick Fil A bowl and root our mighty Vols to a victory (hopefully). We have fanfest tickets and are looking forward to it.

We had a blast at Walt Disney World this year. We stayed at an incredible place called the Wilderness Resort right beside Magic Kingdom. It was great! We rode a short ride on a bus to Magic Kingdom and were able to see the fireworks at Magic Kingdom (by the castle) out on our balcony in the room. Taylor and Carson loved eating with the characters again this year. We were exhausted when it was time to come home, but loved every minute of it. Taylor and Carson loved the water slide and pool at our resort to cool off every afternoon. My mom and dad went with us this year. They were already going to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary because they went to Walt Disney World on their honeymoon. We just decided to go the same week. It was a lot of fun!

First Flag Football Game

Today was Carson's first flag football game. He played quarterback for the first half and played defense the second half. He enjoyed himself and kept up with the scores. His team is the GIANTS and enjoyed watching the GIANTS play on T.V. this afternoon. He did ask if the game was going to last 3 hours like the Tennessee game did yesterday :o) So for now, Carson has 3 baseball games a week, 1 football practice and a 1 football game (all on different days). I now realize why I can't get things done. He loves it all.

Their teachers send home a "homework folder" on Mondays to review at home too. This is a picture of their first EVER test. IT's Football Time in TENNESSEE!

Since the 1st ballgame today was a noon ballgame, we were there tailgating at 8:30 a.m. The excitement was stirring around. We were in our front row spots for the Vol Walk about an hour before. The Vol Walk and the Band were done a little differently than in years previous. The game was incredible with many chances to hear Rocky Top. Taylor and I made it until the end of the 3rd quarter (she was over the excitement by then), but Carson and Adam stayed until the very end of the game and actually walked around some after the game. We are so happy to have football excitement back in Knoxville, and so proud of the football team today and Coach Kiffin.

When I found out I was pregnant with twins many years ago, I designed a plan that would allow me to stay at home part of the time and teach part of the time. I didn't want to stop what I LOVED doing but wanted to spend quality time with my children. I began preparing and creating this "job share" plan and pitched it to quite a few people which many thought I was crazy (the only ones that mattered believed in me). The essential part of the plan was to find the "perfect match" that would shadow me the days that I didn't work. Through prayers and word of mouth, Ms. Nancy and I found each other. You have to understand that I know I am not the easiest person to work with..I am a little strong willed, determined, and like to overachieve. I knew that Ms. Nancy was a God designed perfect match from the start. She and I fit. She was a mastermind with my weaknesses. Ms. Nancy and I worked together "sharing" one classroom for 4 years. Ms. Nancy went home to be with the Lord last night, and I want to say a few words to CELEBRATE her remarkable life. Ms. Nancy was a woman of kindness. She never spoke a harsh word about anyone...students, teachers, administration. She always looked at the positive side of everyone. Ms. Nancy was an encourager. She would always encourage me just right at the exact moment when I needed encouragement. I received a card from her in May that said this to me, "I have taught with many teachers in my day, but not as many teachers who ARE the role...thank you for all that I have learned from you for you truly are the role of teacher." What a true MENTOR Ms. Nancy truly was to me! She never forgot my birthdays, my kids birthday, or any holiday just to show kindness and appreciation. She will be missed in the education realm as well as the personal realm, but know that she had a life truly worth celebrating. And I can't wait to tell her more "school stories" when I see her again. It is hard to believe that Taylor and Carson are beginning Pre-K and are headed to the "BIG" school next year. Taylor and Carson love their school, New Fellowship Christian Academy. Taylor is in Ms. Kristie's room and Carson is in Ms. Stephanie's room. They are doing a great job reading their "BOB" books and seem to be heading on the right track for Kindergarten. I am so proud of them both. They love school and eagerly want to go back each day.

Beach Trip--Round 2

We had a great time with my family at N. Myrtle Beach last week. Carson played an 18 hole golf course for the first time while we were there. He actually played two different courses with Papa, Uncle Brannon and of course his Daddy. He was pumped to have some pars on the Par 3's and of course he was REALLY excited to hit it over a creek. It was a big step for him! Adam and I enjoyed playing Brannon and Brooke every night (of course after the 4 kids 4 and under went to bed)in cards. Brannon and Brooke won the national championship on the last night, and I am sure we will hear about it until next year. Enjoyed staying at the same condo resort with my Uncle Johnny, Aunt Paula, Anna Beth, Adam, and Abigail as well. We made some terrific memories!!!!

We went to Panama City Beach with Adam's family and stayed for 8 days! Adam was sooo excited that we only stopped twice going down and only stopped once coming back for potty breaks/gas fill ups. Taylor and Carson learned how to swim without swimmies while we were there. They would jump in the deep end of the pool and swim to the ladder. What amazed me the most is that they would throw the diving sticks in and would dive down to pick them up. As always, we enjoyed the beach and can't wait to be there again in 10 days!!! :o)

Taylor had her first ballet recital this past weekend. She did a great job, and we were so proud of her. She didn't like all the attention, but seemed proud of herself as well after the recital was over.

Well, after many months of discussion, we finally decided to take the plunge and become official season ticket holders at the University of Tennessee. We went to the indoor practice facility this morning, and Carson was definitely in his element. He loved it! He is excited that he will get to go to all of the games this year, and not just some of the games. This also allows us to get basketball tickets as well. He is pumped up because one of his best little buddies is also getting season tickets, and we can hang out at the Vol Walk and of course the tailgates. Carson and Taylor have been tailgating and attending the Vol Walk to every home game since they were born, but only have gone to a couple of games a season. We are all excited about this new tradition we are starting as a family! We are in the lower level on aisle seats on the row right in front of my parents. Football season should be fun!!

VBS started today at our church, and we all were excited. These are pictures this morning on our way to VBS. Some of the pictures are silly pictures, but we all were wearing our VBS T-shirts! Taylor and Carson had 39 kids in their class. They had a great time and have great leaders. I am helping in the arts and crafts room with the K-4th graders. It was hectic but very well organized. I can't wait to see what the rest of the week holds. I was exahausted a 12:30 pm today when it was over, but headed to the golf course to play golf with the kids. Now I am beyond exhaustion!

Baseball Yr Already Over

Carson's team started out in the bottom of the league for the beginning of the season but improved so much from the mid way to the later part of the season. They finished in the middle of the league. Carson played pitcher every inning this year, and he improved so much as well. He only had one fly ball that hit him in the face once. He hit fourth on the batting line up and did a great job! He finally figured out what base to run people down and when to throw it to first base. He always would tag the person out and touch the base both just to make sure they were out. Carson had some innings where he got all three outs by himself. We have had some to talk to us about picking Carson up next year on their team. For the youngest person on the teams, Carson did an outstanding job! He was disappointed to see the year end. Here are some pics of the last game.

Awana's Awards Night at church

Taylor and Carson had their Awana Cubbies Awards Night on Wednesday night at church. Taylor and Carson have done such a great job with scripture memory and readings throughout the year. We have all learned so much. Summer and Tammy have been incredible teachers and have helped them so much. Taylor and Carson received the Under the Apple Tree award which was only given to 5 preschoolers. They also earned all of their badges for their vest and also received the bear badge for a year of completion. I was very proud of both of them.

Carson made his first BOGEY (drive, 2 chips, and 1 putt) on Wednesday while we played 9 holes at our little Par 3 course by the house. He was so excited because that is exactly what both his Mom and Dad both made as well. He told everyone about his bogey! We joined the Par 3 course as a family this year and have loved it. We try to play once a week if we can. Taylor is the one that hasn't enjoyed walking and has complained about how tired and bored she is while Adam, Carson and I all are playing. We recently got smart and started bringing the stroller along for her to sit and color. She loves it but it sure is a workout for Mom to push her up and down those hills. I love that I am back playing golf again. I have missed it. I especially love it that Adam and I are back in competition again. I love it when he doesn't speak to me for a hole or two because I am beating him!!!!! Bring it on!!!!! :o)

My new niece, Rylee Elise Taylor, was born on May 25th at 6:48 p.m. She weighed 7 lbs 4 oz and was 19 1/2 in long. She has coal black hair and is as cute as a button. We can't wait to take her to the beach with us in July!!!! Brooke is doing great and hopes to come home on Wednesday. Congrats to my brother's family---Brannon, Brooke, Reece and now Rylee!!!!

Soccer Party

Carson played his last soccer game for the Spring 09 season. After the soccer game, they had a small end of the season party and trophy ceremony. He has slept with his trophy and soccer picture every night since receiving it! He even carried it in to my cousin Anna Beth's graduation party because he thought we should celebrate his trophy too! Trucker Buddy

For the last 5 years, my class has had the awesome pleasure to have a trucker buddy from Walmart and his lovely wife to write pen pal letters to each of my students throughout the entire year. Mr. John and Mrs. Julie are incredible people, and I have enjoyed getting to know them. They are from Bakersfield, CA and drive 4 days to come and meet the students (each May) that they have written all year. This past week we had TRUCKER BUDDY DAY and the students love it! I didn't get to spend as much time with them on this quick visit as I like to because of baseball games, soccer games, and graduation, but I am already looking forward to next year. Thanks Mr. John and Mrs. Julie for the kindness and the time that you devote to volunteering and helping our educational system. We need more people just like you!!!!!

I had the opportunity to have a round table discussion today with former Senator Bill Frist, Superintendent James P. McIntyre, and Mayor Mike Ragsdale. There were 7 teachers that sat down today to talk about education and the future of education. It was a great experience. The media was there, and it made for an exciting day.

My niece, Reece, had her 3rd birthday party this weekend. Taylor loves playing with Reece. She talks about her all the time. Reece is going to be a big sister to Baby Rylee in just a few weeks. We can't wait!!!! Brannon, Brooke, Reece and Rylee will all have birthdays in May...it is just a birthday month!!! Happy Birthday Reece!

T Ball Time

Most of you that know Carson at all know that he is in LOVE with sports. He plays all sports and doesn't seem to have a favorite yet. Carson was bumped up to play in T-ball this year which is a 5-6 yr old league. He has thoroughly enjoyed it. His normal position is pitcher even though he has played 1st base one game because of someone being absent. He likes pitcher (of course they use a tee so he doesn't pitch the ball. He just stands on the mound). It scares me sometimes that he is the youngest on the field (won't be 5 until November) and balls are coming toward him quickly. He has to have a pretty quick reaction time. I have told him the importance of paying attention, etc. and he has definitely made me proud by playing the position very well. He hits the ball rather well too. We have 2-3 games a week until the first of June. (Remember that we have soccer games too each week). We thought since it was Sunday that we should rest after our hectic day, but Carson had other plans...he wanted to play 9 holes at the Par 3 after we went to the zoo! I told him that he has to make a choice between soccer or flag football in the fall. I told Taylor that she had to make a choice between dance and gymnastics in the fall as well. We will see what they decide.

Carson LOVES sports. He goes from one to another. Right now, he is playing soccer and Tee ball. Here are some recent pictures of soccer. We have had 4 soccer games and he has scored three and four goals in every game. You play 2 quarters and sit 2 quarters so that everyone can play. I am so proud of him playing obviously, but am extremely proud of the patience he has while waiting and resting as well. I will post some teeball pictures soon. We have 3 teeball games, 1 soccer game, 2 ballet practices, 1 night of Awana Cubbies, 1 pancake breakfast with the Disney princesses ALL to do this week. Pray for me. :o)

Many years ago Anna Beth and Abigail, my cousins, came to Kentucky to see Adam and me at OUR prom. I had the exciting pleasure to go see them this weekend before THEIR formal. We got to hang out some at lunch after they had their nails and toenails done but before the hair appointments. I gave all of my formal dresses from proms, homecoming courts, and formals to the girls years ago. They have worn most of them, but this year bought their own dresses to celebrate. They have strict instructions from me to keep all of their dresses for Taylor!!!! Anna Beth (blonde hair) is a senior and is heading off to Belmont University in Nashville in the fall, and Abigail is a freshman and has more exciting formals to attend in her future. Abigail was 18 months old when Adam and I started dating. Craziness.

A HUGE happy birthday goes out to my dedicated father. My dad has always been a spiritual leader, encourager, motivator, and friend to us all. He is an avid UT fan and pretty much anyone that knows him knows it. I can't remember a time when my father was negative about a situation or someone. He always seems to remain positive and encourage everyone around. I have heard from many how he has been their mentor in life, and it always makes me proud to know that he loves doing just that. He sees the good in all and promotes life. What a man! Thank you Jesus for giving me the last 30 years with a father who loves me unconditionally and shows minor specks of YOUR love for me.

My father will be celebrating his 57th birthday with some of his favorites: all of his family and watching Lane Kiffin's first job as head coach at Tennessee with the Orange and White game on Saturday! Happy Birthday Papa! We love you.

Trip to the Masters

My wonderful father got us 4 tickets to the Masters Practice Round on Wednesday and the Par 3 tournament. Dad, Mom, Brannon, and I all headed down Tuesday evening to spend the night, so we could be there when the gates opened at 8 a.m., and so the alarm went off at 5:15 and we were off. Dad and Brannon have been to the Masters many times while my Mom had only been once before. I, on the other hand, had never been. It was absolutely beautiful. I took over 125 pictures and know that many of you could careless about the pics so I posted just some of my favorite ones. We got to see and follow everyone we wanted too. Of course my favorites include: Amen corner and the skipping of the balls on the 16th hole, but nothing beats the adorable children caddying for their dads at the Par 3 tournament. I loved it! It is an experience like no other.

We have to love our daddy a lot to endure the cold and bitter wind to watch him finish his 13.1 mile 1/2 marathon on the 50 yard line at Neyland Stadium this morning. We were not expecting it to be so cold, but as soon as we stepped outside of the van...the kids and I knew it was going to be a cold morning. Taylor and Carson cheered for daddy as soon as we saw him enter the stadium. He beat his record from last year and finished in an hour and 58 minutes. We know that it takes such hard work, perseverance, and determination to train for this race. Carson and Taylor's favorite part was going to Cracker Barrel afterwards for breakfast. We love our Daddy!!!!

Girl Outing

Taylor and I enjoyed our little girl outing to the beauty shop together. She enjoyed having her hair fixed and of course being treated like a princess. She wants to go back soon she says. We had a great time just the two of us.

Carson's 1st Soccer Game

Carson #9 is playing Spring AYSO soccer for the first time. He is in the under 6 league and is one of the youngest players out there since he is only 4. But, he did a great job! He played most of the game only taking a few breaks for water. He did score a goal and had a few that were close. It took him a little while to understand the rules because he had never watched a true soccer game that closely before. I was very proud of him. He is already talking about next Saturday's game. Taylor enjoyed cheering for him on the sideline in between her coloring and her eating peanuts (which is one of her favorites.) Carson was throwing the ball in by us once and she went and pat his back. Also, she hollared "Carson" in the first quarter and he took time out of his running to give her a quick wave. What a sweetie! I love my kiddos.

Adam got a call last night about being Carson's head baseball coach for teeball, but I think since he is out of town some that he decided to just help out when needed. He is to find out what team he is on sometime this week, and then life will surely get crazy for me.

Spring Break 2009

We never get to go anywhere for vacation for Spring Break because it is Adam's busy season, but it seems we stay busy. So far this spring break, we have accomplished many things.
1) We went to the Knoxville Zoo with a couple of my girlfriends and their kids. We had a blast.
2) We joined the local Par 3 for the family to enjoy this year. Carson got another set of golf clubs (with more irons and woods) for Christmas and loves to play. He played with Papa (my dad). Carson will not pick up his ball. He has to play the hole completely through. It takes a little long to play with him but he enjoys it.
3) Taylor went to the Harvest Park with Nana and myself while Carson was playing golf. Carson told her that she could play with his old clubs, but she didn't have any interest today.
4) We all went over to Aunt Paula and Uncle Johnny's house to celebrate Abigail's 15th birthday. She was to get her permit today. Watch Out! Adam and I started dating when Abby was just a few months old. It is hard to believe she is this old.
5) Taylor, Carson and I went to Lexington today with Papa and Nana (my parents) to see Adair County play in the Sweet 16 highschool game at Rupp Arena. Carson was disappointed when he figured out that Adair County wasn't playing Kentucky.

We still have a few more days left of Spring Break. I am hoping to rest at some point during the week. :o)

Spoiled Rotten

Taylor and Carson will be completely spoiled rotten by the end of this week. Adam was out of town last week, and my wonderful Mother came in to spend the week with us. Then, Adam's parents came in for the weekend to spend time with us. And now since it is my dad's Spring Break, both my Mom and Dad are here until Saturday. Taylor and Carson just love it!

Other news:
We are heading up to Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY on Wednesday to support Adair County's basketball team in the Sweet 16 basketball game.

Carson's first soccer game is this Saturday. He is so excited! Taylor didn't have ballet this week because of Spring Break.

Carson's preschool has moved him from the preschool class to the pre-K class starting next Monday.

Gator Fun

Since the weather was so pretty this weekend, I decided it was a great weekend to get the new Gator outside. Taylor and Carson got the Gator for Christmas this year and have been playing with it on the 3rd floor (bonus room and extra bedroom) since December. Adam had blocked them out of the fast gear and just let them play around. Carson and I carried that big thing from the 3rd floor last Thursday. Yes, it was heavy but they were so eager to ride it. Adam made the Gator where they could go in two speeds. They loved it! They are doing a great job of sharing the driver's spot. We are so glad that we have a lot of area where they can safely ride because they have been on it nonstop since Thursday. Adam has had to recharge the battery during the night hours. On Friday evening, we stopped by one of our favorite neighbors and we ended up hanging out and playing with the Gator. Lily (4) and Schaeffer (almost 2) both enjoyed it. Schaeffer even cried when we left. My niece Reece came over on Saturday morning as well as a friend of Carson's, Tyler. They all four rode in the thing at the SAME TIME. It looks like we have something that the kids will all enjoy playing this summer and the adults can sit down and watch :o). Loads of Gator Fun at the Jessie House.

Carson Reading

Carson and Taylor have known their sounds for over a year now, but haven't shown much interest in putting sounds together until recently. They have learned to spell words by memorization for many months as well. I didn't want to press the issue of reading until I thought they were ready because they do not start Kindergarten until August of 2010 (18 mo away). BUT Carson told me that he wanted to start reading some books, so I did the first few lessons with him. This weekend when Uncle Blake was here I wanted to see if Carson could sound out and read his first Phonics book...and HE DID! He read the entire thing and was extremely proud of himself. It was about 10 pages with 1-4 words on each page. He sounded out all the words. He went on to read it again to his daddy when he came home from work. Taylor told me tonight that she wanted to start learning her lessons. Now, the real teacher comes out in me.......oh the different learning styles and teaching styles! I have been proud as a teacher of my students many times, but none seems to compare to my own children when I have taught them something. Thank you God for giving me the spiritual gift of teacher......

Weekend Fun

Adam's younger brother, Uncle Blake, came to visit us and boy did we have a blast! Taylor and Carson love Uncle Blake (also known as The Funny Man according to Taylor). Blake is a kid himself and plays so hard with T and C. Blake called us about a week ago to tell us he was going to bless us with his presence. The kids have been counting down the days until his arrival. They had hiding places planned out to hide from him, colored pictures for him, drawn pictures of him at church, learned how to write and spell his name, etc. We all enjoyed Blake and can't wait for him to return again. The only bad thing about Blake being here was that he taught my kids a C-A-T-S cheer which they continuously did UNTIL the big Vols beatdown in Florida tonight.

Crazy Week

Like all weeks at the Jessie House, it has been a crazy one.

Saturday 2/21: We attended a 4th birthday celebration for a friend, Tyler at Chuck E. Cheese. T and C had a blast. We have 2 more birthday parties to attend this weekend (Skate Town and Pump It Up Bounce House).

Tuesday: 2/24 Crazy Sock Day at Preschool, Taylor had ballet after school, and I went to an Adult Hip Hop Dance class at 8. Adam was working late as it is his busy season and so I met him at a gas station to hand off the kids on my way to dance class. I am completely sore and had a hard time getting out of bed this morning. I haven't danced like that since my younger days for sure. I have never felt old UNTIL this morning. It was a blast and of course I enjoyed hanging out with my dear friend, Hayley.

Wednesday: 2/25 Favorite Board Game Day at Preschool, Tacky Night at Awana Cubbies, Ate dinner at my Memaw's (a Wednesday tradition).

Thursday: 2/26 Taylor has ballet again this week because of a snow day that was missed, Uncle Blake is coming down. Taylor and Carson have been so excited about Uncle Blake visiting for about a week now. They have colored him many pictures and even learned how to write his name on them. They have hid the pictures under Uncle Blake's pillow. They are so funny. Carson has made many plans with The Funny Man (as he calls him). Carson had a hard time going to bed tomorrow because he is just sooooo excited that Uncle Blake will be here tomorrow to play funny basketball (a game that Adam has made up...it is Carson's favorite game that is played every night.)

Friday: 2/27 Taylor and Carson are hanging out with Uncle Blake all day. They have suggestions of what we are going to do, but we will have to wait and see what the weather is going to do. And then of course we are all going to Skate Town for Maddie's birthday party. Hayley has rented out the entire place, so we are all going skating. I can't wait. I haven't done this in many years, but I use to love to skate. My only hope is that my soreness from the Hip Hop class goes away before then.

Saturday: 2/28 We are going to Lilly Kate's birthday party at Pump It Up Bounce House. Taylor and Carson love bounce houses. They are so excited. It is a great way to end this crazy week. Next week looks just as crazy!!!!! But that is what makes it so great.....:o) I love my family and love spending time with them.

Events of Valentines
1) Taylor and Carson enjoyed making Valentine cards for their preschool Valentine party on Friday.
2) T and C kicked off Valentines Day by making heart shaped muffins for all to enjoy.
3) Adam picked up 4 lower level tickets for the UT vs Vandy basketball game which we all enjoyed.
4) We decided since the basketball game went into the evening, then we wanted to have a quite steak dinner at home after the kids went to bed at 7pm (they didn't have a nap). It was simple yet pleasant not as elaborate as Valentines in the past (before children of course), but a very enjoyable Valentines spent with my family. I wouldn't change it for the world!

Snow Day

One of my dear friends is having a birthday this week, and I wanted to give a shout out to her. Hayley is a wonderful person whom I love spending time with. Hayley is my Splash Country buddy during the summer. We hang out by The Cascades and let Maddie take care of Taylor and Carson. :o) Taylor and Carson enjoy Hayley and Maddie and we love to all hang out together. So sorry for not blogging recently. Things have been hectic around the Jessie House lately. Adam has been out of town for 2 weeks in Chicago with his work, and I have been working full time the last 5 weeks because my co-teacher had a major stroke and is completely paralyzed on the left side. But things should be back to normal this week. They have hired a new co-teacher and she starts this week, so I am back to my normal 2 day weeks. And it is always nice to have Adam at home as well! Thanks for the patience.

Special Happenings this week:
Taylor and I had mother/daughter night at ballet this week. And no I did not take pictures. I was sore for 2 days. I am not use to standing on my tippie toes looking in to mirrors and dancing to Disney princesses songs. Joking aside, I did understand why Taylor likes it because it makes you feel as if you were a princess.

Weather

Well last Friday we awoke to 5 degree temperature and this Friday we are going to reach 60 degrees. Taylor and Carson jumped on the trampoline this afternoon for a little bit. We like the warm weather much better than we like the cold weather. Spring is just right around the corner. I can't wait!

We met my parents and Brannon, Brooke and Reece for dinner before the BIG UT vs KY basketball game tonight. We tried to keep it a secret from Carson about the game. But when we showed up on the strip for dinner and everyone had on orange...the smart little guy figured it out. He was really upset when at dinner Uncle Brannon had a couple of extra tickets for us as well. Of course, I had to turn them down because of the 9 o'clock starting time. Carson is a HUGE Tennessee fan. Has been to more Tennessee basketball and football games in his life than I have been in my life. He wasn't too happy about not going to the game nor getting to stay up and watch it. Adam finally got him to go to bed by promising to take him to the TN vs South Carolina game this Saturday evening. He is excited as always. As Carson was heading to bed, he made Adam DVR the game......he will watch it tomorrow he said. Reece, Mom, Adam, myself, and T and C....were tired and exhausted and none of us took the tickets. Why do they have games so late? I can't stay up to watch it all. Glad Carson has it DVRd. Go Vols!!!!

Starting back up!

Wednesdays are busy days for us. This past week Awanas Cubbies started back for Taylor and Carson and my small group starts back this Wednesday. A favorite thing for the kids to do every Wednesday is go eat dinner at my Memaw's house before church. We all enjoy spending time there. My cousins, Madison and Johnathan, are usually there as well. Madison always fixes Taylor's hair and Johnathan rolls around in the floor with Carson. Wednesday is a day we always look forward to....however, we begin working on scripture memory with Taylor and Carson by Sunday so they know it by Wednesday.

First Day at Ballet

Taylor started Fairytale Ballet today! I chose this dance class because they take a Disney princess each week and use the music from it. Taylor absolutely loves the Disney princesses! Taylor did such a great job today! I was such a proud mommy cheering her on for sure. Carson and I sat in the lobby and just watched her on the television cheering her on. It was a fun afternoon!
